Education glossary
Hi, my name is Annabelle Lord-Patry. I am 18 years old, and I have been studying at Ahuntsic College for two years. I am studying Social Sciences. Next year, I am going to UQAM in Kindergarten and Elementary Education. I created this glossary for future teachers like me. It will be useful for them to understand the meaning of 20 words related to Education. Each words will have a definition, an audio pronunciation to help futures teachers say the words correctly, an example in a sentence and some of them will have an image.

- An approach to instruction that involves actively engaging students with the course material through discussions, problem solving, case studies, role plays and other methods.

- A task or piece of work assigned to someone as part of a job or course of study.
- Example: Their homework assignment was really difficult.

- Milestones that enable parents, students, and educators to track a student’s progress throughout the year.
- Example: This is a benchmark assessment because it can be used to measure how well students are meeting the learning goal of learning how to spell.

- Child development refers to biological, psychological and emotional changes that occur in human beings between birth and the end of adolescence, as the individual progresses from dependency to increasing autonomy.
